What Kevin Brings to the Work

Kevin brings energy to his work with educational leaders - teachers, instructional coaches, building and district administrators. Kevin coaches leaders and educators to be reflective and equity-centered practitioners in service of each student in the school community, and build authentic and lasting relationships. In his 25+ years experience as a teacher, instructional coach, and administrator, Kevin deeply understands that moments of joy, large and small, connect and energize people as they engage in the challenging work of teaching, learning, and leading.

Experience

Kevin began his education career teaching middle school in Washington state. One of Kevin’s professional learning highlights was being developed as an Instructional Coach. With this professional learning, he saw the immense impact reflection and working alongside other adults had on his development as an educator. 

Kevin’s work as an administrator, in high schools and elementary schools, focused on transforming schools. As a principal, he led a traditional public school in Colorado and a public charter school in New York through the change process. Focused on core beliefs and knowing learners, Kevin led teams to transform school culture to focus on students and building strong relationships and support systems to advance learning. 

As Abeo’s Associate Director, Kevin embodies human-centered leadership, believing in and developing authentic relationships through collaboration. He leverages his understanding of organizational systems to coach others in transforming their own practice.
